Anti-Aging
Young means more than a calendar age. ..
It's true that you sometimes don't value what you have until it's gone. Youth is a prime example as calendar pages turn you wrinkled, grey and stopped over. But being young is more than a calendar age as it no longer defines or limits you. Instead being younger is a state of being. Healthier longer, free from age-related diseases like arthritis, vision loss and heart disease. Moving stronger , doing more later in life than your parents did. Knowing your genetic history so you can side-step inherited risks.
Research into anti-aging has revealed two simple truths:
ONE is that free radical or oxidative damage to cells can age you faster if you do not have the antioxidant protection you need to quench them and protect cells, blood vessels and organs. Example: Just the act of breathing produces free radicals and obviously is something you cannot stop doing. Another example is oxidative damage to eyes, to both the retina and lens, from overexposure to the sun's IV rays. Antioxidants are key weapons of defense for your immune system, too.
TWO is that inflammation causes damage as well but also makes it difficult for your body to repair. One example is overuse of joints through the repetitive act of jogging. You can stress your knees and potentially wear away the shock-absorbing cushioning. The second example is diabetic neuropathy, a painful condition resulting from prolonged, uncontrolled insulin levels which injures nerves throughout the body. In fact, inflammation is implicated in heart disease and involved in most chronic conditions. Controlling inflammation is often the first step to healing.
